About the role
The PhD Chemical Engineer will participate in the PhD Career Development Program (PhD CDP), which rotates participants through three unique 1-year assignments in R&D, Engineering, and/or Plant Operations.
Responsibilities
- Create and analyze process designs based on fundamental principles and data-driven methodologies.
- Develop and apply process models, simulations, and optimization techniques.
- Study and optimize transport processes, reaction kinetics, and combustion engineering.
- Investigate separation technologies such as distillation, adsorption, and membrane processes.
- Apply data sciences, machine learning, and artificial intelligence to industrial applications of cryogenic gases and renewable energy.
- Conduct experimental investigations at various scales, including laboratory, pilot plant, and commercial levels.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field, and currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering.
- Completion or defense of Ph.D. studies by June 2027.
- Able to travel both domestically and internationally.
Qualifications
- Strong emphasis on traditional fundamental engineering skills and a blend of experimental, computational, and theoretical focus.
- Expertise in areas such as process design and analysis, process modeling, simulation, and optimization, transport processes, reaction and combustion engineering, separation technologies, data sciences, machine learning, and AI.
- Experience with fluid mechanics and heat transfer in industrial applications of cryogenic gases and renewable energy.
Skills
- Applications of traditional fundamental engineering skills.
- Mix of experimental, computational, and theoretical focus in schooling.
- Areas of expertise can include process design and analysis, process modeling, simulation and optimization, transport processes, reaction and combustion engineering, separation technologies, data sciences, machine learning, and AI.
