Ph.D. Career Development Program - Chemical Engineer FY2027

About the role

Air Products’ PhD Career Development Program (PhD CDP) is a rotational innovation program for Ph.D. Chemical Engineers seeking to create immediate business impact. Participants complete three unique 1-year assignments across R&D, Engineering, and/or Plant Operations, building an extensive internal network early in their careers. The program provides direct access to top technical leaders at Air Products, many of whom began as CDPs.

Responsibilities

• Apply fundamental engineering skills and a mix of experimental, computational, and theoretical approaches to solve technical challenges.
• Participate in process design and analysis using fundamentals and data-driven methodologies.
• Conduct process modeling, simulation, and optimization.
• Investigate transport processes, reaction and combustion engineering, and separation technologies including distillation, adsorption, and membranes.
• Develop data science, machine learning, and AI applications relevant to industrial processes.
• Work on renewable energy, cryogenic gas applications, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer projects.
• Engage in theoretical and experimental research at laboratory, pilot plant, and commercial scales, including customer sites.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop new products, process technologies, and applications.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
• Pursuing a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering.
• Completing or completed Ph.D. studies and defense by June 2027.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
