SUMMARY

Oil and Petroleum Inspectors access client facilities to perform sampling and quantity surveys of various storage and transport vessels. The role requires critical thinking, problem-solving, and adherence to regulatory standards.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Receive orders and gather paperwork from Operations Supervisor(s).
  • Ensure equipment is in good condition and report to job-site punctually.
  • Report to Key Meetings with external personnel.
  • Represent Bureau Veritas by appearance and conduct.
  • Communicate any problems or discrepancies to the Operations Supervisor.
  • Collect and label samples, calculate quantities, and distribute paperwork.
  • Deliver samples to a Bureau Veritas laboratory or client facilities for analysis.
  • Review discrepancies with the Operations Supervisor and sign job order forms.
  • Pass company-defined physical requirements and maintain 24-hour on-call status.
  • Attend company meetings as required.

Education And/or Experience

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2 – 4 years of related experience and/or training.
  • Proficiency in shore tanks, trucks, rail cars, pipelines, and barges.
  • Knowledge of company HS&E procedures and associated governmental regulations.
  • Dependable, able to work independently, and effective communication skills.
  • Capacity to learn quickly and problem solve.

Reasoning Abilities

  • Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables.
  • Interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly stand, walk, use hands, and climb.
  • Frequently stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Regularly lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds (with assistance).

Work Environment

  • Near moving mechanical parts and with explosive materials.
  • Exposure to fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risks of electrical shock.
  • Risk of radiation.
  • Noisy environment.
