SUMMARY
Oil and Petroleum Inspectors access client facilities to perform sampling and quantity surveys of various storage and transport vessels. The role requires critical thinking, problem-solving, and adherence to regulatory standards.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Receive orders and gather paperwork from Operations Supervisor(s).
- Ensure equipment is in good condition and report to job-site punctually.
- Report to Key Meetings with external personnel.
- Represent Bureau Veritas by appearance and conduct.
- Communicate any problems or discrepancies to the Operations Supervisor.
- Collect and label samples, calculate quantities, and distribute paperwork.
- Deliver samples to a Bureau Veritas laboratory or client facilities for analysis.
- Review discrepancies with the Operations Supervisor and sign job order forms.
- Pass company-defined physical requirements and maintain 24-hour on-call status.
- Attend company meetings as required.
Education And/or Experience
- High school diploma or GED.
- 2 – 4 years of related experience and/or training.
- Proficiency in shore tanks, trucks, rail cars, pipelines, and barges.
- Knowledge of company HS&E procedures and associated governmental regulations.
- Dependable, able to work independently, and effective communication skills.
- Capacity to learn quickly and problem solve.
Reasoning Abilities
- Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables.
- Interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Physical Demands
- Regularly stand, walk, use hands, and climb.
- Frequently stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Regularly lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds (with assistance).
Work Environment
- Near moving mechanical parts and with explosive materials.
- Exposure to fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risks of electrical shock.
- Risk of radiation.
- Noisy environment.
