Description of Work

This position supports environmental protection efforts by conducting inspections, responding to citizen concerns, and reviewing technical records for oil and gas operations. It involves fieldwork, documentation, and compliance activities. As an Oil and Gas Inspector, you will perform the following duties:

  • Well Inspections: Conduct routine inspections of wells and related facilities using Department equipment
  • Complaint Response: Investigate citizen concerns and document findings in reports and databases
  • Compliance Actions: Issue violation notices and assist with enforcement measures when regulations are not met
  • Record Review: Evaluate well records, reports, and technical documents for accuracy and regulatory compliance
  • Sample Collection: Gather and preserve gas samples for investigations following proper protocols
  • Case Preparation: Compile evidence, photographs, and documentation for legal and administrative actions

Qualifications Required

  • Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Three years of technical experience in well design, drilling, completion, production, plugging, or underground storage operations in the oil or natural gas industry; or an associate's degree in Petroleum Technology or closely related field, and one year of technical experience in well design, drilling, completion, production, plugging, or underground storage operations in the oil or natural gas industry.
  • Special Requirements: You must be in possession of a valid driver’s license.
  • Other Requirements: PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title. You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Work Schedule and Additional Information

Full-time employment. Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in New Stanton. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

Pay

Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $60,538 before taxes).
