Petroleum Inspector - Martinez, CA

SUMMARY

Oil and Petroleum Inspectors access client facilities to perform sampling and quantity surveys of various petrochemical storage and transport vessels. The role requires critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and adherence to regulatory standards.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Receive orders and gather paperwork from Operations Supervisor(s)
• Gather and calibrate equipment, including safety and monitoring devices
• Report to job-site punctually and comply with Bureau Veritas and customer regulations
• Attend Key Meetings and represent Bureau Veritas professionally
• Collect and label samples, calculate quantities, and distribute paperwork
• Deliver samples to a laboratory for analysis and report any discrepancies
• Maintain a 24-hour on-call status and attend company meetings as required

Supervisory Responsibilities

Education And/or Experience

• High school diploma or GED
• 2 – 4 years of related experience and/or training

Mathematical Skills

• Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure
• Compute rates, ratios, and percentages
• Interpret scientific formulas

Reasoning Abilities

• Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables
• Interpret written, oral, and visual information

Physical Demands

• Regularly stand, walk, use hands, and climb
• Frequently stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl
• Occasionally lift up to 100 pounds

Work Environment

• Near moving mechanical parts and with explosive materials
• Exposure to fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals, and electrical shock
• Risk of radiation
