About the role

We’re currently seeking a Spray Technician with chemical fertilization or pesticide industry experience to work with our commercial customers. The ideal applicant will be a self-starter, have a stable work history, and be passionately interested in the field or have a strong background in Horticulture. This position will perform applications to turf, trees, and shrubs.

Responsibilities

  • Mix and apply turf and tree/shrub care products, read material labels, and fill charts
  • Apply fertilizers and insecticides to turf and ornamental plants according to schedule, safety procedures, and label instructions
  • Drive company vehicle to customer locations
  • Work independently
  • Prepare and disperse horticultural chemicals to ensure proper growing conditions for plants in gardens
  • Communicate with customers, verbally and in writing, about our service and their properties, addressing different concerns
  • Assist with Fall clean-up and other landscaping activities during the Fall season
  • Work snow events during Winter

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year experience with chemical or spray applications (REQUIRED)
  • Valid Driver’s License with Chauffeur’s Endorsement (REQUIRED)
  • RT Certification / State of MI Pesticide Applicators License (REQUIRED; 3A & 3B preferred; 6 Core REQUIRED)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and produce quality results
  • Knowledge of MSDS and chemical uses, staying up to date
  • Strong communication skills in both written and verbal formats
  • Service-oriented mindset to exceed customers' needs
  • Ability to identify different pest issues and apply applicable chemicals
  • Ability to adapt to change quickly and work independently
  • Ability to deal with various problems simultaneously and prioritize solutions
  • Clean driving record and ability to pass a MDOT Medical exam (includes a drug test)

Nice to have

  • Ability to manage projects according to contract and budget
  • Current MDOT Medical Card (preferred)
  • Customer service experience
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Able to operate efficiently and safely at all times
  • Bilingual (Spanish)

Pay

Rate of pay is dependent upon previous work experience and certifications/licenses you hold. Starting range of pay is $19 - $22 per hour.
