Pest Control Technician
Target Specialty Products, a member of the Rentokil family of companies, is a leading national wholesale distributor of specialty agricultural chemicals, application equipment, and pest control products and services.
About the role
The primary purpose of this role is to perform industry-leading pest management services for residential customers. You will identify and eliminate pests by conducting thorough inspections, determining infestations, applying treatments, and providing preventative measures while adhering to safety regulations and communicating with clients.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough inspections of client properties to identify signs of pest infestations, damage, and entry points
- Apply approved pest control products, including chemicals, baits, and traps, to effectively eliminate pests while adhering to safety standards
- Educate customers on pest prevention methods and the importance of maintaining a pest-free environment; provide advice on reducing future infestation risks
- Build relationships with customers, schedule and confirm appointments, assist with sales to current customers, and expand services to new customers
- Ensure all pest control equipment is properly maintained, stocked, and in good working condition
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations regarding pest control products and safety protocols
- Drive and safely operate a company-provided service vehicle (routine maintenance provided)
Essential Job Functions
- Work in tight, confined spaces such as basements, attics, crawl spaces, narrow aisles, or passageways
- Work around animals, insects, termites, mechanical parts, vehicles, electrical current, heights, scaffolding, fumes, dust, and chemicals (training provided)
- Work both inside and outside in local climate conditions while wearing company-provided weather gear
- Perform physical tasks including sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and moving up/down stairs, ladders, scaffolding, ramps, and poles
- Wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including an OSHA-compliant respirator
Requirements
- Clean-shaven face for safety (to ensure proper respirator seal)
- High school diploma or GED; related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Valid driver’s license in state of residence
- Licenses/certificates as required by federal, state, and/or local regulations (covered by the company)
- Available to work Monday-Friday and weekends as needed
- Willingness to learn and become knowledgeable in all areas of pest control
- Solid reading, writing, and verbal communication skills
- Basic math skills for following product label mixing instructions
- Customer-facing experience preferred
Pay
Base pay range: $16.00 - $21.00 per hour. Starting pay varies based on geographic location, skills, education, and experience. Total earnings may also include overtime, incentives, commissions, performance bonuses, and route assignment adjustments (where applicable).
