Personnel Security Specialist I Intake

This position supports the DHS Federal Protective Services (FPS), Personnel Security Division (PSD) by completing personnel security suitability intake tasks.
Responsibilities
- Initiates background investigations.
- Manages receipt of security documents submitted from contractor applicants.
- Conducts fingerprinting procedures.
- Verifies the appropriate level of background investigation being requested and ensures all required documents for suitability processing are completed and included in individual files.
- Prepares, submits, monitors, and updates computer tracking systems concerning appropriate case material.
- Applies incident management, problem solving, and task performance.
- Participates in special projects.
- Performs additional duties as needed.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in security and/or intelligence fields (e.g., technical, physical, information, industrial, personnel, or operational security).
- Subject matter expertise and hands-on experience in one or more security and/or intelligence disciplines, with experience implementing complex government security and/or intelligence programs and policies preferred.
- Must be highly organized with excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with ISMS, eQIP, CVS, and/or DISS is preferred but not required.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a US government Public Trust security clearance.
- US Citizenship is required to maintain a Public Trust Clearance.
Work Environment
This position is performed in a traditional office environment.

- Occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers to handle objects, tools, or controls, and type or write.
- Must be able to reach with hands and arms, talk, hear, taste, or smell.
- Requires close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Pay
$27.00 - $28.00 per hour. The compensation range is a good-faith estimate and may vary based on job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and relevant laws.
