Personal Care Worker Training Program

About the Program

Free Personal Care Services Provider Training Program (PCSPT) trains students to provide quality care to residents in assisted living communities. Upon successful completion, students will have the necessary training to work at an assisted living community in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

The PCSPT Training Program will be held at: The Arbors at Amherst, 130 University Drive, Amherst, MA 01002.

The program totals 60 hours: 54 hours of classroom time, 5 hours for scheduled lunch and breaks, and 1 hour for the certificate ceremony.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care services for residents of an assisted living community or in a home care setting in a professional, caring, and efficient manner.
• Follow proper procedures for all care delivered, including Self-Administration of Medication Management, along with accurate and timely documentation of all care provided.
• Assist with housekeeping, resident laundry, activities, and dining room service for residents.
• Participate in mandatory in-service training in accordance with the assisted living community’s policies and procedures.
• Maintain a positive, professional image.

• Day 5: August 25, 2026
• Day 6: August 26, 2026
• Day 7: August 27, 2026

Attendance Requirements:

• Complete attendance is required every day of the PCSPT Training Program.
• Students must be on time every day. Late arrivals will result in counseling and a written “student at risk” warning. Repeated tardiness after a warning is grounds for dismissal.
• Students must call to report any absence or tardiness. A phone number will be provided at the start of class.
