About the role

An in-home personal care provider works with children and adolescents with intellectual disabilities. The provider will work 1:1 with the individual on goals established as part of the individual's In Home Supports plan. Goals may focus on but are not limited to increasing independence with activities of daily living, increasing social/communication skills and gaining life skills.

Responsibilities

  • Work 1:1 with the individual on goals established as part of the individual's In Home Supports plan.
  • Identify and address support needs of the individual.
  • Communicate effectively with the individual, their family, and other service providers.
  • Maintain regular contact with the individual to monitor progress towards goals.
  • Ensure safety and well-being of the individual at all times.
  • Make community connections on behalf of the child they support.
  • Transport the individual as required, using a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, and proof of insurance.

Requirements

  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities, particularly those with autism.
  • Energetic, observant, and a great communicator.
  • Pass a background check including criminal and driving records.

Qualifications

  • Experience in any of the following areas: LNA, CNA, DSP, Direct Support Professional, patient care, client care, aide, paraprofessional, youth counselor, residential support, childcare, disability, brain injury, brain disorders, mental health, nursing, medical provider, treatment provider, elderly, hospice, caretaker, homemaker, home health, home provider, PCA, companion care, home health aide, nanny educator, teacher, resident, behavior support, or para educator.
