About the Role

UW Credit Union is growing and hiring a group of Personal Bankers (internally known as Financial Specialists) to provide remarkable service and support to our members in the Waukesha County area. The first 12 weeks of employment are devoted to onboarding and training, ensuring you are well-prepared for the role. As a Financial Specialist, you will understand members' needs, offer financial education, and provide consultative sales with tailored recommendations to help members achieve their financial goals. You'll guide members through pivotal financial moments such as opening their first account, securing loans, and planning for retirement.

This training class has a start date of September 21st. Spanish-Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Start the day at your assigned branch location and meet with your team for a morning huddle to discuss updates and goals for the day.
  • Greet members as they come into the branch and serve as a resource for their needs.
  • Meet with members to learn about their financial goals and educate them on financial products and services.
  • Open accounts, complete loan applications, answer member questions, and handle transactions.
  • Attend the weekly 8:00 a.m. team meeting to learn about updates, branch news, and new products.
  • Understand all credit union products and services through training and self-guided learning tools.
  • Call members to check-in and follow up on new account activity.
  • Partner with team members to meet goals for product sales and referrals.
  • Serve as a leader at the branch, mentoring and positively influencing Tellers and Financial Specialists.
  • Handle escalations to effectively address critical member needs and concerns.

Qualifications

Essential Skills and Experiences:

  • 3+ years of customer service and/or consultative sales experience.
  • Demonstrated analytical, accuracy, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to learn a wide range of knowledge and continue developing your skill-set in a robust feedback environment.
  • Strong verbal and written interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships while providing top-notch service.
  • Demonstrated experience being flexible, adaptable, coachable, and collaborative in an autonomous and constantly changing work environment.
  • Natural skill-set to lead and influence others.
  • Proficiency with personal computer and office software.
  • Must obtain and maintain Notary Public certification in accordance with state requirements.

Desired but Not Required:

  • 1-2 years of experience working in a financial institution or in a retail leadership role.
  • Knowledge of new accounts, savings instruments, and consumer lending.
  • Consultative sales experience.

Training Program

  • Virtual, classroom, and branch training for the first 12 weeks of employment.
  • On-the-job training at a greater Milwaukee area branch location (determined by start date).
  • 3 hours a week dedicated to studying to pass the Credit Life Credit Disability (CLCD) Exam.
