Personal Assistant / Paraprofessional (Hoxie)

About the role

DSNWK is seeking individuals to make a difference in the community by assisting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).

Responsibilities

• Teach and assist with living skills such as grocery shopping, cleaning, and cooking.
• Provide support to individuals served.
• Differentiate duties based on the time of day and individual needs.
• Advocate for people with disabilities and their everyday choices.
• No previous experience required.

Requirements

• $14/hr starting wage, with rate increases contingent on experience.
• $1,000 sign-on bonus for new hires.
• Must be able to pass a background check.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs. unassisted and perform physical interventions as needed.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Able to exercise good judgment and discretion in handling confidential information.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• No prior experience required, in-house training provided.
• Prior personal or job-related exposure to people with developmental disabilities is preferred.

Skills

• Ability to follow Teaching Plans, Behavior Management Plans, and Service Agreements.
• Knowledge of independent living skills and ability to teach them.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Physical stamina and ability to perform routine tasks and physical interventions.

Pay

$29,120 - $37,378 approximate annual full-time income at 40 hours per week.

Schedule

General shifts may include 7a-4p.
