Permit Technician - Building Safety

Major Duties

• Provides skilled assistance to the public, builders, and contractors pertaining to the county building permit process.
• Fills out and submits permits through the electronic submittal system.
• Processes inspection ticket requests and enters requests into the system.
• Issues Residential Certificates of Occupancy.
• Affords assistance to builders, contractors, and the general public regarding the building permit process.
• Calculates, accepts, and records payments including permits, impact fees, and failed inspection fees.
• Maintains and notifies permit holders about expired permits and required fees.
• Monitors and processes new and existing projects in the permit and plan review software.
• Answers telephones and greets visitors, offering information and assistance.
• Handles resident complaints.
• Processes open records requests.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, and perform mathematical calculations at a high school level or equivalent.
• Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, typically gained through an apprenticeship/internship or a similar position for one to two years.

Pay

Starting Salary - $43,462.11
