About the role

Tuff Shed is hiring a full-time Permit Technician. This position offers opportunities for growth and impact within the company, which has been in operation since 1981 and is known for its commitment to quality and innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Tuff Shed customers and local municipal entities to obtain building permits and meet zoning requirements.
  • Establish relationships with local building and zoning departments to stay informed about changes in local codes and requirements.
  • Serve as the liaison between Tuff Shed and building and zoning departments, communicating necessary changes to Salespersons and Customers.
  • Resolve issues related to permit issuance by attending meetings and public hearings as needed.
  • Prepare and submit required documents for permits, such as plot plans and drawings.
  • Track permit progress through the planning and building departments and communicate with relevant parties about project status.
  • Schedule and coordinate on-site building inspections with local officials and Tuff Shed representatives.
  • Update tracking tools to inform interested parties of project progress.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Customer-service experience and the ability to work effectively with customers and colleagues.
  • Experience managing multiple projects to completion.
  • Preferred experience in construction or building departments.
  • Understanding of regulatory items related to real estate, such as easements, setbacks, and water runoff.
  • Hands-on computer skills in Microsoft Office and internet applications.
  • Experience with CRM software like Oracle, JDE, Onyx, Salesforce.com, Goldmine, or similar systems.
  • Problem-solving skills using logic and good business judgment.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic, mathematics, accounting, and financial tasks relevant to Tuff Shed operations.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
  • A valid driver’s license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
