Permit Technician

About the role

SAFEbuilt is seeking a dynamic individual to join our team as a Building Official. This position involves overseeing building codes and regulations, conducting inspections, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal building standards.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the enforcement of building codes and regulations
• Conduct routine and special inspections of construction projects
• Issue permits and ensure all required documentation is submitted
• Resolve issues related to building code violations and permit compliance
• Participate in public meetings and provide technical expertise
• Keep abreast of changes in building codes and regulations

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field
• Minimum 5 years of experience in building inspection or related field
• Knowledge of local, state, and federal building codes and regulations
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Qualifications

• Experience with computer software such as AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and building information modeling (BIM)
• Proficiency in using inspection software and databases
• Understanding of sustainable building practices and energy efficiency

Pay

$70,000 - $85,000 annually
