Pay

Compensation: $22.29 per hour

Schedule

Permanent – Full Time. Work hours based on operational need.

Responsibilities

• Serve the public and work to make Ohio roads safer.
• Perform highway maintenance activities including flagging, pothole patching, repairing guardrails, litter pickup, and mowing.
• Perform snow and ice operations.

Requirements

• Formal education in arithmetic covering addition, subtraction, decimals, percentages, and fractions.
• Ability to read, write, and speak common English vocabulary.
• Three months of training or experience in operation of basic equipment.
• Valid Commercial Driver’s License at the appropriate level per approved position description and Ohio Revised Code Section 4506 to operate regulated motorized equipment.
• Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment as noted above.

Additional Information

• Overtime eligible based on FLSA standards.
• All bargaining unit new hires must serve a one (1) year probationary period.
• Position filled pursuant to the OCSEA/AFSCME Contract.
• Final candidate must undergo a criminal background check; individual assessment of prior convictions will be made before exclusion.
• All final applicants tentatively selected must submit to urinalysis for illegal drug use prior to appointment; a positive test disqualifies the applicant.
• Subject to federal testing regulations under 49 CFR Part 40 (Federal Drug and Alcohol Regulations) and 49 CFR Part 382 (FMCSA), which prohibit marijuana use including medical marijuana.
• Medical marijuana is not a valid medical explanation for a positive drug test for this position.
