Perinatologist Physician

About the Role

As our Perinatologist, you will deliver the highest quality, specialized patient care within a high-functioning interdisciplinary team, adhering to ethical and professional standards focused on maternal-fetal well-being.

You will evaluate and manage high-risk obstetric patients, provide specialized prenatal and perinatal consultations, perform advanced diagnostic procedures, maintain precise medical records, and fulfill administrative duties. You'll comply with all relevant healthcare programs (e.g., Medicare, managed care), ethical directives, and hospital policies, actively participating in quality improvement initiatives, peer review, and relevant committees.

You will contribute to operational matters, provide on-call coverage for obstetric emergencies, and pursue continuous medical education to maintain expertise in maternal-fetal medicine.

Responsibilities

• Provide highest quality patient care for high-risk obstetric patients.
• Deliver specialized ambulatory and inpatient perinatal care.
• Perform advanced diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
• Prepare and maintain meticulous medical records for all examinations, services, and interventions.
• Comply with sponsoring entities' ethical and religious directives (ERD), Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal/state reimbursement plans.
• Participate in and lead clinical and quality improvement initiatives for perinatal services.
• Adhere to hospital policies, financial reviews, utilization/quality management, compliance programs, and Medical Staff Bylaws.
• Stay current with the latest developments in maternal-fetal medicine through continuing medical education.
• Maintain applicable board certification in Obstetrics & Gynecology and Maternal-Fetal Medicine.
• Provide on-call coverage for obstetric emergencies.

Requirements

• Successfully completed a residency or fellowship in the specialty.
• Obtain and maintain an unrestricted Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration.
• Board certified or eligible in the appropriate specialty by a hospital-accepted board.
• Obtain Medical Staff Privileges within the Health system at the sponsoring institution.
• Active or eligible unrestricted license to practice medicine in Colorado.

St. Francis Hospital, opened in 2008, features 340 beds and offers a modern Birth Center, Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Cancer Center, Emergency Department, Level III Trauma Center, Imaging Services, Acute Inpatient Rehab, Surgical Services, and Critical Care Unit. It also serves as southern Colorado's home base for the Flight For Life Colorado air medical transport service.
