About the role

The Government Programs - Performance Excellence Consultant Sr is responsible for managing the evaluation, planning, and implementation of initiatives and projects within Advocate Health’s Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Innovations (CMMI) Government Programs. This includes, but is not limited to, six Medicare Shared Savings Program Accountable Care Organizations (MSSP ACO), two Accountable Care Organization Realizing Equity, Access, and Community Health (ACO REACH), Bundled Payments for Care Improvement-Advanced (BPCI-Advanced), GUIDE Dementia Care Model, and any additional CMS/CMMI opportunities or programming.

Responsibilities

  • Deploy multi-year improvement initiatives related to Advocate Health’s CMS and CMMI Government Programs.
  • Provide management support to identify and implement utilization improvement and tactical financial targets that deliver best-in-class results compared to national trends.
  • Motivate and direct internal work teams, set goals, objectives, and priorities for strategic initiatives by leading design sessions, monitoring project status, establishing timelines, managing task dependencies, and coordinating go-lives.
  • Plan, organize, control, and evaluate projects from concept phase to implementation.
  • Identify and include stakeholders within individual project needs and ensure communication, participation, and approvals by stakeholders when necessary.
  • Serve as the primary interface with key stakeholders on tasks, deliverables, and issues regarding Government Programs initiatives.
  • Prepare key performance measures and develop baseline measures to track and monitor pre- and post-improvement initiatives and project implementations.
  • Effectively communicate outcomes both internally and externally, including reporting project outcomes to leadership teams and stakeholders.
  • Create concise summaries of key report conclusions for executive-level reporting and translate analyses and visualizations into actionable recommendations.
  • Partner with technology, operations, and analytics teams to develop and implement robust workflow structures to meet critical success metrics.
  • Partner with business owners and key stakeholders to establish and implement sustainability plans for successful operational transformation.
  • Maintain current knowledge of government regulations, policies, and trends affecting the healthcare industry, and conduct independent research to deliver improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree (MBA, MPH, MHA) or equivalent work experience in Healthcare.
  • 3-5+ years of experience with healthcare operations, managed care, or value-based care payment models, ACOs, Bundled payments, or innovative incentive models.
  • Knowledge and mastery of one or more process improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, A3, Design Thinking, or Model for Improvement.
  • Track record of designing, implementing, and evaluating initiatives and projects that result in measurable improvements to meet organizational goals.
  • Working knowledge of financial analyses, cost accounting, and reimbursement methods.

  • Ability to identify and solve problems creatively, work within deadlines with high attention to detail, and work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Experience in quality/process improvement, project management, or design thinking.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • This position requires travel and may be exposed to weather and road conditions.
  • Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
  • Exposed to a normal office environment.
