Per Diem Veterinary Assistant

Small Door is a membership-based veterinary care service that offers exceptional care, 24/7 telemedicine, and transparent pricing. Founded in 2019, we operate in New York City, Boston, Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia, with plans for further expansion in 2026.

Responsibilities

• Recognize and respond to medical emergencies and illnesses
• Assess patients, record vitals, and assist doctors with diagnostics
• Complete treatments as directed by the doctor
• Provide basic husbandry and nursing care
• Maintain patient health by monitoring changes and providing compassionate care
• Facilitate radiography capture, prepare samples for labs, run in-house labs, and administer medications
• Work tele-triage shifts (with additional stipend)
• Contribute to maintaining a welcoming and supportive environment

Requirements

• Comfortable using computers and online tools
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs
• Team player with a go-getter attitude
• Effective communicator with clients
• Pet lover with a passion for animals

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience in veterinary care preferred
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
