Per Diem RN First Assist

The Registered Nurse - First Assist role is a per diem position supporting surgical teams in an acute care hospital setting. Key responsibilities include performing first assisting functions during surgeries, assisting with room setup and teardown, maintaining hemostasis, and providing intraoperative support such as local anesthesia administration. The nurse functions independently with the surgeon, applying specialized knowledge, skill, and judgment to ensure safe operations and optimal patient outcomes, within state laws and nursing practice standards. Qualifications require current Nevada licensure, OR certification (CNOR), and CRNFA or RNAS-C certification, maintained actively. BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications are necessary, with NRP for obstetric areas. Nurses without a bachelor's degree may be grandfathered if certifications are current. Skills and qualities include technical proficiency in intraoperative procedures, teamwork, attention to detail, and adherence to ethical standards. Key duties involve assisting surgical procedures, ensuring patient safety, and supporting optimal clinical results. Note: This role does not include functioning as a scrub nurse concurrently.
