Per Diem Nuclear Medicine Technologist

Position Summary

Provides nuclear medicine technology such as nuclear medicine imaging procedures, radiopharmaceutical therapy, radiopharmaceutical preparation, and maintaining equipment and supplies.

Job Requirement

  • Education/Experience: Successful completion of an accredited program of Nuclear Medicine Technology.

  • Licensing/Certification Requirements: A State of Nevada License in Radiology and valid American Registry of Radiological Technologist Certification in Nuclear Medicine or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB). Basic Life Support (BLS) certification accepted by the American Heart Association (AHA).

  • Additional Position Requirements: Preferences will be given to applicants who document the following: Certified in good standing with NMTCB and/or ARRT (N); Minimum of three (3) years working experience (Not Counting Clinical Training); Working experience in a high volume teaching medical center with emphasis on myocardial perfusion resting/stress exams (Treadmill / Dobutamine / Lexiscan); Experience with PLANAR and SPECT imaging; Experience with an EHR (Electronic Health Record); Experience with PACS; Ability to take call on a rotational basis; Ability to work weekends and rotational holidays.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Physical Requirements

  • Knowledge: Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Physical Requirements Federal and state regulations governing nuclear medicine procedures; nuclear medicine including radiation therapy; intravenous infusion; pharmaceuticals and chemistry; equipment including cameras and computers used in nuclear medicine; nuclear medicine imaging procedures; anatomy and physiology; department and hospital safety practices and procedures; infection control policies and practices; patient rights; age specific patient care practices; handling, storage, use and disposal of hazardous materials; department and hospital emergency policies and procedures.

  • Skill: Operating equipment associated with nuclear medicine procedures; writing clear and concise reports; providing quality patient care; preparing and administering radiopharmaceuticals; properly disposing of radiopharmaceuticals; communicating with a wide variety of people from diverse socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all personnel contacted in the course of duties; efficient, effective and safe use of equipment.

Physical Requirements And Working Conditions

  • Physical Requirements: Mobility to work in a typical clinical setting and use standard equipment, vision to read printed materials and VDT screens, stamina to remain standing and/or walk for extended periods of time, hearing and speech to communicate effectively in-person and over the telephone. Strength and agility to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
