About the role

The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) / Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) plays a crucial role in monitoring and documenting clients' physical and mental health status, administering and documenting medications as prescribed, and communicating any concerns to the Registered Nurse and attending physician.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and document clients' physical and mental health status
  • Administer and document medications as prescribed
  • Communicate any concerns to the Registered Nurse and attending physician
  • Participate in treatment team meetings, shift exchanges, and daily rounds
  • Help coordinate and oversee nursing activities to ensure quality client care
  • Provide nursing interventions within the scope of licensure
  • Support the admission process by reviewing admission documentation, coordinating admissions, completing required verifications and forms
  • Help maintain full utilization of program beds

Requirements

  • A valid California Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) or Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) license is required.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED, HiSET) is required.
  • Graduation from an accredited school of licensed vocational nursing, psychiatric technology, or an associate’s degree in nursing or social sciences is preferred.
  • One (1) year of nursing experience is required, preferably treating individuals with mental illness in an inpatient setting.
  • One (1) year of medication administration experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Must obtain valid CPR and Pro-ACT certifications within 30 days of employment.
