About the role
The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) / Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) plays a crucial role in monitoring and documenting clients' physical and mental health status, administering and documenting medications as prescribed, and communicating any concerns to the Registered Nurse and attending physician.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and document clients' physical and mental health status
- Administer and document medications as prescribed
- Communicate any concerns to the Registered Nurse and attending physician
- Participate in treatment team meetings, shift exchanges, and daily rounds
- Help coordinate and oversee nursing activities to ensure quality client care
- Provide nursing interventions within the scope of licensure
- Support the admission process by reviewing admission documentation, coordinating admissions, completing required verifications and forms
- Help maintain full utilization of program beds
Requirements
- A valid California Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) or Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) license is required.
- A high school diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED, HiSET) is required.
- Graduation from an accredited school of licensed vocational nursing, psychiatric technology, or an associate’s degree in nursing or social sciences is preferred.
- One (1) year of nursing experience is required, preferably treating individuals with mental illness in an inpatient setting.
- One (1) year of medication administration experience is preferred.
Qualifications
- Must obtain valid CPR and Pro-ACT certifications within 30 days of employment.
