Position Summary

The Craftsman performs a variety of skilled mechanical tasks in the repair, servicing, and general maintenance of the hospital physical plant and equipment, such as boilers, pumps, air conditioning equipment, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry.

Under the direction of the Director of Facility Services, the Craftsman performs a variety of skilled mechanical tasks in the repair, servicing, and general maintenance of the hospital physical plant and equipment, such as boilers, pumps, air conditioning equipment, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry.

Required Qualifications

  • Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
  • Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Able to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
  • Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
  • Must have valid California Drivers License
  • Three years previous hospital maintenance experience required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
  • High School of vocational school graduate preferred
  • Courses related to mechanics, refrigeration, and boiler operation desirable
