Job Summary

The Craftsman performs a variety of skilled mechanical tasks in the repair, servicing, and general maintenance of the hospital physical plant and equipment.

About the Role

Under the direction of the Director of Facility Services, the Craftsman performs a variety of skilled mechanical tasks in the repair, servicing, and general maintenance of the hospital physical plant and equipment, such as boilers, pumps, air conditioning equipment, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine and emergency repairs on hospital equipment and facilities
  • Maintains and inspects boilers, pumps, air conditioning equipment, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry systems
  • Assists in the installation and removal of equipment and fixtures
  • Performs preventive maintenance on equipment and systems
  • Responds to emergency situations and assists in disaster recovery efforts

Requirements

  • Three years previous hospital maintenance experience required
  • Valid California Drivers License

Qualifications

  • Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships across the Health System

Skills

  • Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
  • Vocational school graduate preferred
  • Courses related to mechanics, refrigeration, and boiler operation desirable
