About the role
Bridgewell strengthens communities by providing a range of social and human services to empower people with disabilities and other life challenges. Services include community housing, day programs, outpatient treatment, recovery services, education, and employment training. Bridgewell is dedicated to helping those in need, from autism to substance use disorders, and is known for innovating to meet unmet or emerging needs.
Responsibilities
- Provide support and assistance to people with developmental, physical, and psychiatric disabilities in activities of daily living.
- Create opportunities for people in our services to make decisions and foster independence.
- Ensure compliance with DDS, DMH, MassHealth, HUD, DPH, CARF, and Bridgewell policies and procedures.
- Transport and accompany people in our services to medical, recreational, and other activities.
- Maintain daily progress notes, shift checklists, and other required documentation.
- Complete household cleaning duties as assigned.
- Conduct steady care calls as per guidelines.
- Aid people in accessing community resources and recreational opportunities.
- Administer medications according to MAP regulations.
- Maintain all mandatory training certifications and additional certifications as required.
- Develop positive relationships with guardians, family members, and other stakeholders.
- Serve as the program's Fire Safety Officer or Safety Coordinator or Human Rights Officer.
- Comply with Bridgewell Safety Checks Policy.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings and supervision meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least 5+ years of verified experience in the same position.
- Minimum 1 year of experience working with people with developmental or psychiatric disabilities preferred.
Skills/Knowledge
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft products and web-based applications.
- Ability to drive a large and/or wheelchair van and hold a valid US driver's license.
Physical Demands
- Mobility to maneuver people of varying weights.
- Physical assistance with people served, often weighing more than 200 pounds.
- Assistance with bathroom routines, entry and exit of tubs or showers, and getting into/out of wheelchairs.
- Physical, behavioral, and medical interventions.
- Lifting and moving as part of daily living activities.
- Driving a 12-passenger van.
