Per Diem Corporate Security Officer

About the role

The Corporate Security Officer is responsible for providing a safe and secure work environment for Nassau associates, building tenants, visitors, contractors, and the public, and for protecting Nassau’s physical assets while demonstrating an elevated level of professionalism at all times. Responsibilities

• Acts as an ambassador to the building, greeting associates, tenants, and visitors with a positive attitude.
• Maintains a favorable working relationship with all company associates to maintain a cooperative work environment.
• Keeps reception area organized and clean.
• Provides direction/assistance to associates, tenants, and visitors in a timely, professional, and courteous manner.
• Ensures building and occupant safety; makes interior and exterior tours of buildings, parking garages, and grounds, checking for security and safety problems; resolves or reports findings as required.
• Controls access in/out of Nassau facilities by checking associate, visitor, contractor and tenant ID badges, monitoring sign‑in sheets, issuing visitor ID badges, and operating CCTV.
• Operates computerized security, access control, and alarm systems; secures interior/exterior doors; activates/deactivates alarm systems when opening/closing the building.
• Responds to and conducts initial and continuing investigations of incidents, submitting security incident reports as necessary.
• Monitors and acts upon building HVAC alarms, fire system alarms, and elevator alarms, providing necessary assistance and documentation.
• Responds to and is knowledgeable of all emergency procedures.
• Manages incoming telephone calls professionally and transfers calls as necessary.
• Available for covering call outs; in the event of an emergency extending past normal working hours, able to remain on the job until relieved.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid State of Connecticut Guard Card.
• CPR / AED / Basic First Aid Certification, or ability to pass certification after onsite training.
• At least 3‑5 years of meaningful/verifiable employment in Security, Law Enforcement, Military, Emergency Management, or Customer Service (or a combination).

• Ability to learn and follow SOP manuals and all emergency procedures (evacuation, fire, medical, bomb threat, workplace violence, etc.).
• Must attend and successfully complete all required training.

Pay

The base pay for this role is $20/hr.

Schedule

Must have weekend availability.
