Security Officer - Per Diem
About the role
The Security Officer II responds to safety concerns, security incidents, and service requests at Seattle Children's facilities. Responsibilities include responding to various emergencies and incidents, utilizing appropriate protocols, and providing non-violent crisis intervention.
Responsibilities
- Respond to fire emergencies, hazardous spills, disaster response, medical emergencies, safety support, missing child, active shooter, bomb threats, individuals under distress or escalated, unauthorized persons on Seattle Children's property or buildings occupied by Seattle Children's workforce members with intentions to commit crimes such as vandalism, theft, and assault.
Requirements
- Associate degree in Criminal Justice or related field or a combination of 3 years' experience in Security Services or related field
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within 90 days of hire
- CPI Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI) Certification within 90 days of hire (Annual Requirement)
- Completion of NCI Autism Training within 12 months of hire
- Completion of Seattle Children’s Safe Firearms Training within 12 months of hire
- Completion of Car Seat Safety Training within 12 months of hire if required for position/role.
- Score of 80% or above on Seattle Children's Security Competency Exam in assigned area of the Security Department (Service Call, Emergency Department, Entrance, Surge, and Research) within 12 months.
Qualifications
- Valid Washington State Driver’s License with a driving record acceptable to Risk Management
- Completion of Wheelchair vehicle Training
- Preferred: IAHSS Basic Certification, Safety Cares Certification within 90 days of hire if required for location
Skills
Effective communication, problem-solving, and crisis management skills are essential. Proficiency in using security equipment and software is also required.

Pay
Compensation range: $21.64 - $37.16 per hour. Salary information is based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year).
