Responsibilities
- Performs various functions as a member of the trauma response teams including but not limited to: setting up pleurovacs, setting up I.V., placing patient on monitor (ECG/NIBP/SA-O2), delivering used trauma sets with forms to sterilization room and picking up new sets (if available).
- Performs VS and neuro checks and documents them on charts.
- Documents care provided on chart on every patient, in Fast Track; and all patient interactions in the Main ED.
- Auxiliary emergency physician by obtaining necessary materials for suturing, dressings and performs basic splinting on fingers, shoulders or ankle.
- Stocks unit supplies and reports defective equipment on every shift.
- Transport patients when necessary to Med/Surg, OB or Telemetry units.
- Under the guidance of an RN, PA or MD performs routine suture removal.
- Gives crutch walking instructions.
- Responds to patient call bells and requests for aid.
- Performs precision G Glucose checks after meeting hospital competency requirements.
- Performs CPR/ Chest compressions.
- Performs phlebotomy when directed after meeting hospital competency requirements.
- Performs EKG?s as requested after meeting hospital competency requirements.
- Mets performance expectations for Customer Service, Teamwork, Resource Utilization, and Staff and Self Development as outlined in performance review.
- Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure smooth operation of the department/unit.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma Or Equivalent.
- One of four qualifications is required:
- EMT-B certification with 2 years? experience or 1 year ED Tech experience preferred;
- One year of clinical completed and currently enrolled in an accredited school of Nursing;
- Two years recent Government Corpsmen experience;
- One year ED Tech experience.
