PEPI, Senior Associate - M&A and Performance Improvement – Sports, Media, and Entertainment

About the role

This role is within Alvarez & Marsal’s Private Equity Performance Improvement Services (PEPI) practice, focusing on serving upper middle market and large cap private equity firms. The team partners with investors, operators, and corporate stakeholders to assess M&A opportunities, mitigate risks, and drive value creation throughout the investment lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Provide service excellence by identifying key client business issues, overseeing workstreams, and owning key client deliverables.
  • Leverage a strong technical and analytical toolkit, including advanced financial modeling, to drive insights and client decision-making.
  • Lead client interactions, facilitate working sessions, present findings to senior stakeholders, and translate complex analytical outputs into clear, actionable insights and executive-ready deliverables.
  • Own and maintain key client deliverables throughout the engagement, including synergy and performance improvement models, separation and one-time cost models, integration and carveout trackers, and other workstream outputs, ensuring accuracy and executive-ready quality at every stage of the transaction lifecycle.
  • Coordinate across workstreams, ensure alignment on priorities and execution plans, maintain consistency in approach and messaging, and support team development through coaching, feedback, and on-the-job guidance.

Requirements

  • 4-6+ years of professional experience in management consulting, investment banking, private equity, corporate development, with a demonstrated track record of M&A, preferably within the Sports, Media, and Entertainment (SM&E) space.
  • Experience in integration/separation planning and execution a plus, but not required.
  • MBA preferred.
  • Eager to learn about core operations of SM&E.
  • Initiative and drive.
  • Critical thinking skills.
  • Flexibility to travel at least 75% of time.

Qualifications

  • Coordination and leadership skills.

Benefits

The benefits package includes healthcare plans, flexible spending and savings accounts, life, AD&D, and disability coverages, as well as a 401(k) retirement savings plan. There is also an annual discretionary contribution to the 401(k) retirement savings plan, and employees are eligible for paid time off including vacation, personal days, seventy-two (72) hours of sick time, ten federal holidays, one floating holiday, and parental leave. The salary range is $100,000 - $170,000 annually, dependent on several variables including but not limited to education, experience, skills, and geography. There is also a discretionary bonus program based on individual and firm performance.

Schedule

Full-time positions and part-time positions available, with regular employees working 30 or more hours per week eligible for participation in Alvarez & Marsal Holdings’ fringe benefits.
