About the Role

Under general supervision, performs skilled and semi-skilled work in the maintenance, repair, and construction of City facilities, parks, and related infrastructure. This position is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of municipal buildings, equipment, and systems.

Responsibilities

  • Performs maintenance, repair, and installation of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and mechanical systems in City facilities.
  • Inspects buildings, grounds, and equipment to identify maintenance needs and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Operates and maintains a variety of hand and power tools, equipment, and vehicles used in maintenance and construction activities.
  • Responds to emergency maintenance requests, including after-hours and weekend calls as required.
  • Assists in the setup and takedown of equipment and facilities for City events and programs.
  • Performs preventive maintenance on equipment and systems to minimize downtime and extend service life.
  • Maintains accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on tasks.
  • Assists in snow removal, landscaping, and other grounds maintenance activities as needed.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable safety regulations and City policies.
  • May provide guidance and training to lower-level maintenance staff or temporary workers.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Three (3) years of experience in facilities maintenance, construction, or a related field.
  • Valid Arizona driver’s license.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain relevant certifications (e.g., HVAC, electrical, plumbing) within one year of employment.
  • Knowledge of building systems, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Physical ability to perform demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions and respond to emergency calls outside of regular business hours.

Pay

$22.15 - $29.50 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.

Schedule

  • Full-time position, 40 hours per week.
  • Monday through Friday, with occasional evenings, weekends, or holidays as required for emergency response.
