About the Role

The Behavioral Health Coordinator (Misdemeanor Probation and Program Coordinator) position is responsible for coordinating and overseeing behavioral health programs within the City of Peoria’s misdemeanor probation system. This role involves developing, implementing, and evaluating programs aimed at addressing the behavioral health needs of individuals on probation, ensuring compliance with court orders, and promoting rehabilitation and community safety.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and evaluate behavioral health programs for individuals on misdemeanor probation.
• Coordinate with probation officers, courts, treatment providers, and community organizations to ensure program effectiveness.
• Monitor and track participant progress, compliance with court orders, and program outcomes.
• Provide case management and referrals to behavioral health services, including substance abuse treatment, mental health counseling, and social services.
• Prepare reports and presentations for court officials, city management, and stakeholders on program performance and participant progress.
• Collaborate with law enforcement, healthcare providers, and social service agencies to enhance program delivery and participant support.
• Ensure programs comply with applicable laws, regulations, and best practices in behavioral health and criminal justice.
• Conduct outreach and education to raise awareness of behavioral health resources within the community.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, criminal justice, public health, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in behavioral health, social services, probation, or a related field.
• Knowledge of behavioral health disorders, substance abuse treatment, and criminal justice systems.
• Experience in program development, implementation, and evaluation.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including government agencies, nonprofits, and community members.
• Valid Arizona driver’s license and ability to pass a background check.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certification or licensure in behavioral health, social work, or a related field (e.g., LCSW, LPC, LISAC).
• Experience working with misdemeanor or criminal justice populations.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills.
