People Operations Manager

Position OverviewNakamoto Inc. (Nasdaq: NAKA) is a remote-first company that holds a bitcoin treasury and operates bitcoin-native businesses spanning media and events, fund management, and advisory services. We are a publicly traded parent company managing diverse subsidiary businesses. We're hiring a People Operations Manager to run day-to-day HR at Nakamoto – payroll, benefits, onboarding and offboarding, and policy – and to collaborate on processes and optimizations with our subsidiary companies (BTC Inc., UTXO, and any future acquisitions). In this role, you'll report to Nakamoto’s Head of Internal Operations and work closely with leaders and HR operators across the broader organization. This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports. The ideal candidate will have experience in HR and payroll, and an appetite for process development. In a given week, you might help an employee through a benefits change, process tax withholding on an equity award, run a report for the Board of Directors, roll out a new policy, and roadmap a process improvement across companies. While some of our processes are established, we’ll get to do a lot of building together to bring efficiency, clarity, and opportunity to the Nakamoto working environment. Key ResponsibilitiesPayroll & compensation administrationProcess payroll (through Rippling) for W-2 employees and contractorsTroubleshoot payroll issues including state tax accounts and off-cycle adjustmentsMaintain employee records and ensure data integrity across systemsSupport equity award administration, including tax withholding processes, under the Employee Stock PlanBenefits & retirementServe as the primary employee contact for health benefits questions; liaise with brokers to resolve issuesCoordinate open enrollment across entitiesSupport onboarding and ongoing administration of our 401(k)/PEP planMonitor compliance requirements across benefit programsHiring & employee lifecycleManage occasional job postings, applicant tracking, interview scheduling, and offer letter coordinationOwn onboarding mechanics end-to-end: system access, equipment, documentation, and first-week experienceMaintain offboarding checklists and ensure clean separations across all entitiesSupport managers with the playbooks and tools they need to run their teams wellHR policy & complianceMaintain and update employee handbooks and HR policies across entitiesSupport compliance with federal and state employment law, including requirements specific to a publicly traded company (insider trading, MNPI policies, etc.)Flag emerging compliance risks and coordinate remediation with legal and operations What We’re Looking For3+ years of HR or people operations experience, ideally in a multi-entity, remote-first, and/or public company environment; payroll experience especially preferredSHRM-CP or PHR preferredHands-on experience processing multi-state payroll, including tax registrations, garnishments, and off-cycle correctionsFacility with Rippling or a comparable HRIS; facility with AI and automation; comfort learning new systems quicklyWorking knowledge of benefits administration, 401(k) plan mechanics, and open enrollment processesStrong attention to detail and a track record of owning complex, multi-threaded workComfort operating in ambiguity & building structure where neededClear, professional written communication; you'll be the face of HR ops to employees across entitiesBased in the United States CompensationBase salary is targeted between $90,000 and $110,000 per year, depending on experience and locationEligible for equity and cash performance bonusesFull-time employees are eligible for healthcare benefitsFull-time employees will be eligible for 401(k) participation once available In Your ApplicationPlease upload a resume (PDF preferred), and a short cover letter describing a time you improved or built an HR process from scratch.
