About the role
At 1st United Credit Union, we're seeking a People Operations Manager who can drive excellence in the employee experience while supporting organizational strategy.
Responsibilities
- Drive Execution Excellence
- Bring People Experience strategies to life through clear operational plans, workflows, and timelines
- Ensure initiatives are delivered with precision, compliance, and risk awareness
- Identify trends, risks, and opportunities, proactively recommending improvements
- Own People Operations & Employee Relations
- Oversee the full employee lifecycle from onboarding to offboarding with consistency and care
- Lead complex employee relations matters, including investigations and performance management
- Act as a trusted escalation point, balancing employee experience with legal and regulatory compliance
- Lead & Develop Your Team
- Manage and mentor the People Business Partner and Total Rewards Partner
- Ensure alignment across workstreams for a seamless employee experience
- Build scalable processes, decision frameworks, and operational playbooks
- Guide Total Rewards & Programs
- Partner closely with Finance to align programs with budgets and controls
- Leverage data and continuous improvement to deliver actionable insights to leadership
- Drive process improvements that enhance efficiency and reduce risk
Requirements
- 8–10 years of progressive HR/People experience
- Proven leadership of HR Business Partner and/or Total Rewards functions
- Deep expertise in California and federal employment law
- Exceptional judgment, attention to detail, and risk awareness
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to navigate sensitive situations with discretion and care
- A hands-on leadership style with the ability to execute in ambiguity and manage competing priorities
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent certifications required
