About Us

Growth Ops Advisory is a boutique consultancy that helps small and midsize businesses align people strategy with business goals. Clients turn to us during growth, transition, or when they want experienced guidance to strengthen how their organization runs. We’re known for clarity, practicality, and a deep understanding of how businesses actually operate. Whether solving complex people issues or building better systems, we help clients make smart, thoughtful decisions that move their business forward.

About the Role

As a People Operations Consultant, you'll serve as a business partner to select clients, leading their day-to-day people operations and HR projects. You will be responsible for personally driving and delivering successful outcomes through proactive, clear communication and strong project management. While you will collaborate with a supportive team, you should be comfortable working independently, and demonstrate initiative, ownership, and responsibility in both managing and executing your work. This role is ideal for someone who is motivated by the challenge of building from the foundation during organizations’ formative stages.

Responsibilities

  • Own the successful execution of core People Operations activities across a portfolio of clients, serving as the day-to-day HR resource to leaders and employees
  • Develop and manage employee onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring all required documentation, system setup, communication, and stakeholder coordination is completed to create a seamless employee experience
  • Manage payroll preparation, processing and troubleshooting, partnering with client finance teams to ensure payroll is accurate, timely, and compliant. You will be responsible for helping client finance teams trace payroll and benefit related discrepancies, reconcile errors, and calculate complex earnings and deductions
  • Lead benefits administration including benefit program design and cost modeling, plan implementation, migration, and closures, employee-facing benefits administration for open enrollment and qualifying life events, terminations, and employee questions
  • Support employee relations matters by gathering information, participating in employee conversations, providing recommendations on routine issues, and partnering with senior consultants on more complex situations
  • Coordinate and execute recurring HR projects and annual initiatives, including performance review cycles, compensation planning, open enrollment, compliance reporting, required filings, and other related projects
  • Ensure clients remain compliant with applicable employment laws and internal policies by maintaining required documentation, coordinating compliance activities, and proactively identifying potential risks to senior consultants
  • Ensure successful and timely completion of projects by communicating proactively and clearly with internal team members and clients and managing project timelines and deadlines
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, client experience, and client budget utilization through practical process improvements while remaining focused on delivering excellent day-to-day execution

Requirements

  • 5+ years of Business Management or Operations experience with a heavy emphasis on Human Resources, People Operations, or HR consulting
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple clients, competing priorities, and deadlines simultaneously
  • Experience independently managing core HR operations, including onboarding, payroll, HRIS administration, benefits administration, compliance, and employee lifecycle processes
  • Comfortable supporting routine employee relations matters and recognizing when more complex situations require escalation
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with a client-service mindset
  • Highly proactive, resourceful, and dependable with a strong sense of ownership and accountability
  • Comfortable working independently while collaborating closely with teammates on more complex client initiatives
  • Strong understanding of federal and state employment laws and HR best practices
  • Experience working in a consulting environment, PEO, outsourced HR, or multi-client setting is preferred but not required

About the Team and Culture

Our team is distributed, and uses Slack and Zoom calls to collaborate on projects and keep each other updated throughout the day. We value constructive, direct communication and are looking for colleagues who seek to clarify underlying motivations or goals, instead of operating with a surface level understanding. Like many of our clients, we try to strike a balance between structure that enables us to be more effective, and flexibility to move quickly and incorporate changing priorities.
