People Operations Associate
The People Operations Associate will play a crucial role in shaping and scaling the employee experience at Whatnot. This role focuses on onboarding operations and employee lifecycle support, with onboarding as an initial area of ownership.
Onboarding Operations
- Own onboarding workflows from offer acceptance through Day 1, including onboarding communications, Workday transactions, I-9 compliance, onboarding tasks, and cross-functional coordination with Recruiting and IT.
- Manage onboarding experiences at the San Francisco hub, partnering with Talent Programs and cross-functional teams to deliver a seamless onboarding experience for new hires.
Employee Lifecycle Operations
- Process and support job changes, promotions, compensation updates, departures, and other employee lifecycle transactions while ensuring data accuracy.
- Maintain data integrity and audit readiness, ensuring Workday data is accurate, complete, and compliant through regular audits, reporting, and process reviews.
Operational Improvements
- Identify opportunities to improve onboarding, employee lifecycle workflows, and self-service resources to increase efficiency and reduce manual work.
- Build scalable operational processes and improve the People Ops helpdesk by responding to Tier 1 and Tier 2 employee questions, identifying trends, and enhancing documentation and self-service resources.
Support Cross-Functional Initiatives
- Partner on cross-functional People Ops initiatives, supporting projects across onboarding, systems, reporting, compliance, and employee experience as the company scales.
Reporting and Analytics
- Leverage Workday reporting and operational metrics to identify issues, improve processes, and support decision-making.
Team Collaboration
- Support the broader People Ops team by sharing knowledge, documenting processes, and providing coverage across operational workflows as needed.
To succeed in this role, you should have 3–5+ years of experience in People/HR Operations or a similar role, preferably in a fast-growing environment. You should be a Workday power user, comfortable processing transactions, running reports, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining data accuracy. Experience supporting onboarding operations and employee lifecycle processes is also essential. You should think in systems and enjoy improving processes, be comfortable operating with autonomy and managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, be organized, proactive, and detail-oriented, communicate clearly and thoughtfully across teams, take ownership and follow through, and be familiar with tools like Google Workspace, Slack, Zendesk, Culture Amp, Navan, and Slab or Notion, and pick up new tools quickly.
