About the role

We are seeking an experienced People Business Partner with significant Employee Relations expertise to join a highly professional and evolving organisation on a 6-month contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior ER professional who enjoys managing complex people matters while also influencing policy, leadership decision-making, and organisational culture. Working as part of a collaborative team, you will partner with leaders across the business to provide pragmatic, commercially focused advice and support on a broad range of employee relations matters.

Responsibilities

As a trusted adviser, you will play a key role in supporting managers through complex and sensitive employee issues while helping to strengthen people practices and mitigate organisational risk.

  • Managing complex employee relations cases including disciplinary, grievance, capability, absence management and workplace conflict matters.
  • Providing expert guidance to leaders and managers on employment law, policies and best practice.
  • Supporting investigations and advising on fair, balanced and commercially appropriate outcomes.
  • Acting as a senior escalation point for complex ER issues.
  • Reviewing and enhancing people policies, procedures and guidance.
  • Identifying trends, risks and opportunities through people data and case analysis.
  • Supporting organisational change initiatives and restructuring activity where required.
  • Building strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels to drive positive people outcomes.
  • Working with employee representatives and trade union partners as appropriate.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across the wider People function.

Requirements

We are looking for a confident and credible HR professional who can operate effectively in a complex environment and influence decision-making at all levels.

  • CIPD qualification (or equivalent experience).
  • Significant Employee Relations experience with a strong track record of managing complex and high-risk cases.
  • Thorough knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
  • Experience working within a regulated, unionised or otherwise complex organisational environment.
  • Strong stakeholder management and coaching skills.
  • Experience developing and implementing HR policies and procedures.
  • Excellent written communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
  • A proactive, pragmatic and solutions-focused approach.

Pay

Salary of £65,000 - £75,000 depending on experience.

Schedule

6-month contract with immediate impact and visibility. Hybrid working model.
