About the role
The People & Culture Fall Intern supports the daily operations of The Cooper's People & Culture department while gaining hands-on experience in Human Resources within a luxury hospitality environment. This internship provides exposure to colleague engagement, onboarding, internal communications, recruitment, and HR administration. Working alongside the People & Culture team, the intern will assist with projects that enhance the colleague experience while developing a foundational understanding of Human Resources and hospitality operations.
Responsibilities
- Colleague Experience & Communications
- Assist with creating and updating colleague communications, announcements, and notifications.
- Update and maintain digital content for the BHC Bistro colleague television, including events, recognition, and important company communications.
- Support colleague engagement initiatives, appreciation events, Roundtables, and Town Halls.
- Assist with recognition programs and special People & Culture events.
- Onboarding & Offboarding
- Prepare orientation materials for New Hire Orientation.
- Assist with orientation room setup and breakdown.
- Help issue lockers, locker locks, parking passes, and other onboarding materials.
- Assist with properly offboarding colleagues and return tracking of company property.
- HR Administration
- Assist with organizing personnel files and maintaining HR records in Workday.
- Support data entry and document preparation as assigned.
- Assist with employment verifications and general administrative projects.
- Maintain confidentiality of all colleague and company information.
- Recruitment Support
- Assist with interview scheduling for hiring managers.
- Support recruitment events and onboarding activities.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Human Resources, Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Professional demeanor with the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Must have a positive attitude with an extremely welcoming and approachable demeanor.
- Willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment.
- Passion for hospitality and creating exceptional colleague experiences.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, and move throughout the hotel for extended periods.
- Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment and work at a computer for extended periods.
- Ability to communicate professionally with colleagues, leaders, guests, and vendors.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs.
