PEO Payroll Specialist

About the role
The Payroll Specialist will report to the Payroll Manager and be responsible for accurate and timely completion of client payrolls. Client maintenance is an essential duty including entering and verifying new employees, changes, and terminations. You will also respond to client inquiries on payroll processing issues and maintain filing of employee and client data requirements.
Responsibilities
- Utilize internal systems, resources, and import files to enter and process payrolls accurately, while meeting internal deadlines.
- Maintain client quality survey scores in support of key initiatives.
- Respond to any client questions or issues related to payroll input and processing.
- Consistently expand and refine knowledge and skills related to the system and internet product, ensuring performance remains at the highest level.
- Keep current with Federal and State tax changes as they occur.
- Accurately complete any incoming employee maintenance, ensuring all changes, new hires, and terminations are completed prior to payroll processing.
- Verify I-9 information submitted by the client for accuracy and compliance.
- Help support the documentation of processes and procedures as needed for the payroll department.
- Maintain filing of employee and client data in the appropriate system folders.
- Effectively use and understand artificial intelligence (AI) tools and technologies to enhance productivity, decision-making, and overall performance.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Associate or bachelor’s degree and/or relevant work experience.
- 3+ years in a role handling payroll for multiple clients/locations.
- FPC or CPP certification is a plus.
- PEO experience is a plus.
- PrismHR and Salesforce experience is a plus.
- Ability to work under pressure within stated deadlines.
- Attention to accuracy and detail.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and other payroll software programs.
- Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills.

Pay
$60,000 to $75,000 base salary.
