About the Role
This position is within the Pediatric Emergency Department at the School of Medicine, focusing on delivering high-quality care to pediatric patients while contributing to medical education and departmental initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care for pediatric Emergency Medicine patients.
- Supervise and teach Emergency Medicine residents, pediatric residents, and medical students.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and department committees.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation.
- Participate in department meetings and educational conferences.
- Assist with trauma resuscitations and critical care stabilization.
- Provide consultation to other departments as needed.
- Demonstrate ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility with a diverse population of faculty, staff, and students.
Requirements
- MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
- Board certification in Emergency Medicine or Pediatric Emergency Medicine.
- Current Virginia medical license or ability to obtain.
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification.
- Completion of an accredited Emergency Medicine or Pediatric Emergency Medicine residency.
Preferred Qualifications
- Fellowship training in Pediatric Emergency Medicine.
- Previous experience in an academic medical center.
- Experience with electronic medical records.
- Research experience or publications.
- Teaching experience with residents and medical students.
