About the Role

This position is within the Pediatric Emergency Department at the School of Medicine, focusing on delivering high-quality care to pediatric patients while contributing to medical education and departmental initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care for pediatric Emergency Medicine patients.
• Supervise and teach Emergency Medicine residents, pediatric residents, and medical students.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and department committees.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation.
• Participate in department meetings and educational conferences.
• Assist with trauma resuscitations and critical care stabilization.
• Provide consultation to other departments as needed.
• Demonstrate ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility with a diverse population of faculty, staff, and students.

Requirements

• MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
• Board certification in Emergency Medicine or Pediatric Emergency Medicine.
• Current Virginia medical license or ability to obtain.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification.
• Completion of an accredited Emergency Medicine or Pediatric Emergency Medicine residency.

Preferred Qualifications

• Fellowship training in Pediatric Emergency Medicine.
• Previous experience in an academic medical center.
• Experience with electronic medical records.
• Research experience or publications.
• Teaching experience with residents and medical students.
