About the role
VCU Health in Richmond, VA is seeking a physician to provide direct patient care for pediatric Emergency Medicine patients while supervising and teaching Emergency Medicine residents, pediatric residents, and medical students.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care for pediatric Emergency Medicine patients
- Supervise and teach Emergency Medicine residents, pediatric residents and medical students
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and department committees
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation
- Participate in department meetings and educational conferences
- Assist with trauma resuscitations and critical care stabilization
- Provide consultation to other departments as needed
Required Qualifications
- MD or DO degree from accredited institution
- Board certification in Emergency Medicine or Pediatric Emergency Medicine
- Current Virginia medical license or ability to obtain
- Current BLS, ACLS and PALS certification
- Completion of accredited Emergency Medicine or Pediatric Emergency Medicine residency
- Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as an employee at VCU
Preferred Qualifications
- Fellowship training in Pediatric Emergency Medicine
- Previous academic medical center experience
- Experience with electronic medical records
- Research experience or publications
- Teaching experience with residents and medical students
