About the role
Peer Tutors provide quality one-on-one and group learning assistance to guide students in developing their skills to become independent and successful learners.
Responsibilities
- Provide high quality one-on-one and group tutoring to all students.
- Contribute in the development of supplemental materials for specific subject areas.
- Maintain proficiency in using online meeting software (primarily Zoom) and tutoring session reporting systems (primarily Accudemia).
- Attend all trainings and workshops pertinent to specific tutoring assignments.
- Attend all meetings conducted by the Professional Lead Tutors and Library Director in conjunction with tutoring.
- Participate in all tutoring evaluation procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality and record progress of student learning during the tutoring sessions.
- Treat all students with dignity and respect.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Tutoring Services.
- Promote a safe and positive work environment in all aspects of Kishwaukee College.
Qualifications/Skills
- Current enrollment at Kishwaukee College as a student with at least 6 credit hours.
- Achievement of at least a 3.6 GPA in the course/courses they will tutor (courses selected per the needs of Tutoring Services).
- Recommendation from an instructor of a class they will tutor.
- Must be dependable, responsible, reliable, and punctual.
- Willingness to learn and ability to explain concepts to others.
Physical Demands
Salary: $15.00 per hour
