About the role

Peer Tutors provide quality one-on-one and group learning assistance to guide students in developing their skills to become independent and successful learners.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high quality one-on-one and group tutoring to all students.
  • Contribute in the development of supplemental materials for specific subject areas.
  • Maintain proficiency in using online meeting software (primarily Zoom) and tutoring session reporting systems (primarily Accudemia).
  • Attend all trainings and workshops pertinent to specific tutoring assignments.
  • Attend all meetings conducted by the Professional Lead Tutors and Library Director in conjunction with tutoring.
  • Participate in all tutoring evaluation procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality and record progress of student learning during the tutoring sessions.
  • Treat all students with dignity and respect.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Tutoring Services.
  • Promote a safe and positive work environment in all aspects of Kishwaukee College.

Qualifications/Skills

  • Current enrollment at Kishwaukee College as a student with at least 6 credit hours.
  • Achievement of at least a 3.6 GPA in the course/courses they will tutor (courses selected per the needs of Tutoring Services).
  • Recommendation from an instructor of a class they will tutor.
  • Must be dependable, responsible, reliable, and punctual.
  • Willingness to learn and ability to explain concepts to others.

Physical Demands

Salary: $15.00 per hour
