Responsibilities
- Aid students with specific course-related concepts and problems.
- Meet regularly with the Tutoring Coordinator for reflection and strategy exploration.
- Attend scheduled staff meetings and training sessions.
- Keep accurate records of student appointments.
- Help students develop effective study strategies.
- Teach students how to use supplementary learning materials.
- Support students in communicating with their professors.
- Clarify and apply academic rules, definitions, and concepts.
- Guide students through sample problems and examples.
Requirements
- Maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5, with 3.0 preferred.
- Earn grades of “A” or “B” in all courses tutored.
- Be enrolled at least half-time (6 credit hours) during the semester of employment, except for summer term.
- Show excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Show patience and a sincere desire to help others.
- Recognize when to refer students to appropriate campus resources.
- Submit timesheets and other required documents on time.
- Complete LLCC’s mandatory harassment prevention and cybersecurity training within 30 days of employment.
- Complete all mandatory training requirements for CRLA Level 1 Peer Tutor Certification.
- If working with minors, pass a criminal background check.
Pay
$1 above minimum wage
