About the role
At Pine Rest, we are a tight-knit community of healers dedicated to providing expert care for mental health and substance use disorders. We are much more than just a behavioral health system; we operate a state-of-the-art psychiatric urgent care center, a soon-to-be-built pediatric behavioral health center, and a network of clinical sites across Michigan. Our services include outpatient, inpatient, partial hospitalization, assessment and testing, residential, addiction treatment, and specialty services like crisis response and forensic psychiatry.
Responsibilities
- Use experiences with personal recovery to offer hope, encouragement and reassurance to the people served within the program.
- Participate as assigned in clinical and staff meetings.
- Participate in the person centered planning process as requested by persons served.
- Work with program leadership to implement programmatic changes by utilizing evidence-based practices to improve the quality of our services and outcomes.
- Aid the people we serve to become active participants in their treatment and encourage self-advocacy while in the program.
- Encourage those served to take personal responsibility for their own recovery and wellness.
- Document interactions in the electronic medical record and coordinate with other treatment team members as necessary.
- Provide services aimed at promoting independence, community inclusion and productivity in individual and/or group settings.
- May schedule and lead group programming.
- Complete the appropriate group paperwork required within the program.
- May provide formal and impromptu training for direct care staff and other team members to assist the team in utilizing a recovery-oriented approach.
- Learns and helps to accomplish patients’ treatment plans and goals.
- Support and promote a recovery-focused environment and person-centered approach within the program.
Requirements
- Must possess, at a minimum, a High School Diploma or GED.
- Life experience that allows individuals to identify self as peer and/or coach.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate in both written and verbal formats to meet position responsibilities.
- Current certification as a Certified Peer Support Specialist and/or Recovery Coach or ability to obtain Michigan Peer Support Specialist Certification once hired may be required.
- Some programs may require the candidate to have been served by the public mental health system.
- May be required to have been diagnosed with a Mental Illness or Substance Abuse.
- May be required to have been served by the Public Mental Health System.
