Peer Support Specialist - Rapid Response

About the role

The Mental Health Center is seeking a Peer Support Specialist to join the Rapid Response Team. This position offers a 5k sign-on bonus for full-time clinical employment. As a Peer Support Specialist, you will utilize your own lived experiences to support individuals with substance use disorders in achieving their personal goals.

Responsibilities

• Work with a multi-disciplinary team including clinicians, psychiatrists, case managers, and more to support patients in achieving treatment goals and objectives
• Apply stages of change and motivational interviewing skills to meet individuals wherever they are in their recovery journey
• Engage individuals in identifying and working toward goals that build on recovery capital
• Support individuals to foster independence, autonomy, and self-advocacy
• Assist individuals in accessing sustainable community resources that promote wellness and recovery
• Act as an advocate to reduce stigma and promote resiliency
• Attend and actively participate in treatment team meetings and individual and group supervisions
• Communicate effectively with peers, managers, and support staff
• Maintain and complete all documentation in a timely manner
• Comply with regulatory confidentiality requirements as outlined in HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2
• Provide support that is sensitive to diverse cultures, languages, and recovery models
• Possess a teamwork ethic and behave in a manner that aligns with high standards of ethical practice

Requirements

• Must have organizational, written, and verbal skills
• Basic computer experience required
• Must be certified as a Peer Specialist or Recovery Coach and eligible for CRSW and Intentional Peer Support certificates
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and automobile with liability insurance in the amount required by agency policy
• Experience working as a peer specialist in a mental health center setting and/or substance misuse services is highly recommended
• A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED is required
