Peer Support Specialist

Responsibilities

  • Offer peer support and promote self-advocacy among youth and adults
  • Aid individuals in connecting with community resources and services
  • Collaborate with providers, families, and care teams to support comprehensive care
  • Encourage recovery, resiliency, and empowerment through peer mentorship
  • Document services in accordance with program standards
  • Complete additional tasks as directed by supervisor

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required
  • New York State Youth Peer Advocate or Certified Peer Specialist certification (training and credentialing support available for qualified candidates)
  • Lived experience with mental health, recovery, or system involvement is strongly encouraged
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills are necessary
  • The ability to engage, motivate, and support both youth and adults is important
  • Bilingual skills are preferred
