Peer Support Specialist
About the role
The Peer Support Specialists (PSS) assigned to PCMH/OTP Community-Based Services will perform only the duties of a Peer Support Specialist. They address one-on-one support needs and provide support for day-to-day problem-solving related to normalization and reintegration into the community. The PSS utilizes best practices of assertive engagement, harm reduction, and peer support when working to engage with members in the community and the facility.
Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one support to clients addressing one-on-one support needs and providing support for day-to-day problem-solving related to normalization and reintegration into the community.
- Utilize best practices of assertive engagement, harm reduction, and peer support when working to engage with members in the community and the facility.
- Embrace the recovery philosophy and promote a safe and inclusive recovery environment for clients.
Requirements
- Highschool diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of six (6) months’ experience in the Behavioral Health and/or Substance Abuse field required.
- Minimum of six months of recovery from substance use and/or mental health disorders required.
- Current AZ Driver's License (Valid and in good standing).
- Clear 39-month Motor Vehicle Record.
- Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) or able to obtain a CPSS certification within 90 days (3 months) of hire.
- Addiction and Substances Use Disorders certification preferred.
Qualifications
