Peer Support Specialist (ACT/Outreach)
Job Summary
The Peer Support Specialist (PSS) provides recovery-oriented services by using lived experience to inspire hope, promote wellness, and support individuals on their recovery journey. This position serves adults experiencing mental health and/or substance use challenges by providing advocacy, mentoring, recovery education, and community-based support. The PSS partners with consumers and interdisciplinary treatment teams to develop person-centered goals that promote independence, self-advocacy, and recovery.
Responsibilities
- Provide individual and group peer support services
- Connect consumers with community resources
- Assist with engagement in treatment
- Document services in the electronic health record (EHR)
- Maintain compliance with all applicable Kentucky regulations, including 908 KAR 2:220, and organizational policies
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Certified Kentucky Peer Support Specialist or willingness to complete Pathways-sponsored certification training
- Demonstrated minimum of one year in recovery and wellness, including active participation in the recovery process
- Must meet Kentucky Peer Support Specialist certification requirements
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience providing peer support to individuals with mental health and/or substance use disorders
- Experience working with community agencies and outreach populations
- Familiarity with electronic health records
- Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
Schedule
This is a full time position. Four-day schedule (40 hours/week) or five-day schedule (37.5 hours/week). Schedule determined jointly by the ACT Team Leader and CSP Director. Approximately 2.5 days per week providing ACT services and 2.5 days per week providing Outreach services.
