Peer Support Specialist #26-116
Job Responsibilities
- Serves as a peer support for assigned offenders
- Aids offenders with the treatment and service enrollment process
- Incentivizes engagement in services
- Serves as a liaison for substance use providers
- Aids in program development
- Aids in staff trainings
Minimum And Additional Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent relevant human services or social services experience
- Must be or able to be credentialed as an Addiction Professionals of South Carolina (APSC) certified peer support specialist (CPSS) within 180 days of hire
- A minimum of three years of lived recovery, which must be verified by current and/or previous employers or an administrator of volunteer organizations
- A minimum of three years since any criminal justice involvement (e.g., arrest, incarceration, supervision)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with a forensic population is preferred
