About the role
The Peer Support Specialist provides flexible, community/program-based peer support services designed to promote the recovery, empowerment, and community integration of individuals with severe behavioral health and/or substance use disorder challenges.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate opportunities for individuals receiving service to direct their own recovery and advocacy process.
- Teach and support the development and utilization of skills needed to facilitate the individual's recovery.
- Promote the knowledge of available service options and choices and the utilization of natural resources in the community.
- Help facilitate the development of a sense of wellness and self-worth.
Requirements
- Certified Peer Specialist.
- Experience in recovery for a minimum of 2 years.
Qualifications
- Driving may be necessary as part of this role.
- Caregivers are required to comply with all state laws and requirements for driving.
