About the role
The Peer Support Specialist provides flexible, community/program-based peer support services designed to promote recovery, empowerment, and community integration for individuals with severe behavioral health and/or substance use disorder challenges.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate opportunities for individuals to direct their own recovery and advocacy process.
- Teach and support the development and utilization of skills needed for recovery.
- Promote awareness of available service options and choices, and encourage the utilization of natural resources in the community.
- Help develop a sense of wellness and self-worth among individuals served.
Requirements
- Certified Peer Specialist.
- Experience in recovery for a minimum of 2 years.
- Driving may be necessary as part of this role.
